I love Christmas

This past weekend was full of Christmassy things, like 2 Christmas programs and a all night youth Christmas party... So I will sing my blog with a song that I sang with my choir on Monday night. (I guess it is more like I will write out the lyrics to my solo than actually sing them...tehehehe)

I love Christmas
and all the joy it brings.
Celebrating, Jesus King of Kings!
Jesus came bringing love
and bringing peace
and bringing joy to us...
I love Christmas.
It is not about the carols
or presents by the Christmas tree
It's all about the promise He's brought for you and me.
That's why I love Christmas and all the joy it brings!
Celebrating, Jesus King of Kings!
Jesus came bringing love

and bringing peace

and bringing joy to us...
I love Christmas.

Jesus is the reason for the season and He alone helps us....

2011 Ornament Reveal

It is that time of year again to pull the big box out of the garage and get to work. However, I think that this work may be the most fun work on the planet. We love putting up our Christmas tree!

The girls just love going through their boxes, reminiscing over old ornaments and hanging them on the tree.

So on to our Ornament Picks for 2011!!!!!!!!!

Ohh...Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Absorbent and yellow and porous is he
If nautical nonsense be something you wish
Then flop on the deck and plop like a fish...... "Spongebob Squarepants"

My little 3 year old man had to have him for his ornament. I tried many times to talk him out of it...but to no avail!

So on our tree hangs a yellow sponge with his tongue sticking out at me every day....I think Bob mocks me.

To add to her growing collection of horses my 8 year old picked this pretty white filly.

I think we scoured all of Bronners to find this frozen treat for my 11 year old. I'm not kidding...I think we looked at every bulb before she picked this one.

This ornament belongs to my husband. We purchased it in the Bahamas where the girls and John went swimming with the dolphins. What a great memory.

My ornament choice was this under the sea themed bulb. It is to remember the great sabbatical we had and all the time we spent in the ocean.

And here is the result of all of our efforts. They were really helpful....well maybe not the short one; but we will give him a break. The Christmas season is full swing in our home now!!!

Oooooo their faces help me...

2010 Ornaments

Thursday, December 1, 2011

Hey, so I am posting twice a month on my hubby's blog for teenagers. Every Wednesday night at our church we have what we call "Random". Students can ask any question about anything. We then discuss it and give a biblical answer. If you have a teenager or will soon have one....go check it out for great advice, questions teens are asking and biblical truths to help give answers!

Our topic for this week...

"Hey, No question is too stupid when it comes to Marriage, Dating or Modesty!"

Always....

Thanksgiving Picture Story

Stop...No more reading blogs about thanksgiving, this one is a picture story of our day of thanks...enjoy, it will only take a minute. You are welcome, I know you are all busy now that the holiday season has begun. I mean who has time to read a bunch of blogs now that Christmas is only 26 days away!

Our story begins the night before getting the stuffing ready for the bird took several people to finish.
Even the young ones got to help prepare the food! Yeah for pies! Whoo HOOO!
Of course there was Rudy to be mashed!
and many, many, many .....so many potatoes to be peeled.
and turkey's that needed to be lovingly cooked!

Here is what is on the menu for 22 people...2 Turkeys, 35 potatoes, 2 Rutabagas, tons of stuffing, a pot of beans, a pot of corn, sweet potato casserole, orange shimmering jello, fruit salad, pickles, carrots, celery, 36 rolls, a gallon of gravy, apple crisp, 1 apple pie, 1 cherry pie, 2 banana cream pies, 2 pumpkin pies and enough leftovers to feed us for the rest of the weekend.
Eating the food, we took most of the day to cook, is a yummy way finish to a wonderful day!Of course we also participated in the timely tradition of watching our Lions lose again!
All the cousins had fun just hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's playing games and goofing around.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and took some time to reflect on all that you are thankful for. Here is one of the things we found on our thanksgiving table..... (the card not the child)
Ditto on the last line! Thank you Lord for all that you have given to me and my family. Lord, you help my really, truly....
GET JOY!

Ooooo I will leave you with one last thing, my favorite facebook status last week....

My daughter asked at the dinner table the other night, "Can we eat less food for the next couple of days so I can eat more on Thanksgiving day?" I think she was trying to get out of eating her veggies at the moment. But my hubby answered, "You really need to eat a lot of food to stretch out your stomach so you can fit more food in." Yikes, life lessons at our house....Ugh!

Not Me Monday - What Is Worse than Mosquitoes?

My daughter would not come to talk to me at 10 pm Wednesday night and inform me that her head has been really itchy for the last several WEEKS! I would not then ask her why she waited so long to tell me. She would not then reply, " I kept forgetting!"

I would not then discover something far worse than misquitos....LICE!

I would not spend the next several days in combat with this wretched Phthiraptera!

I would never be jealous of my husband's shaved head. I would not have to treat everyone except him....grrrrrr!

I would never pray to God that Harold Camping was right on Friday. I would not be totally up for the end of the world just to avoid being buried in laundry and never ending cleaning.

I would not still be washing four days later and probably won't be done for two more.

My kitchen would not have at least 9 garbage bags of linens and things still waiting to be washed...Nope Not This MOM!
My couch would not become clean laundry central. I would not have piles and piles on it right now as I write this blog.... I would never let that happen.

I would not pick through my oldest daughter's hair for three hours. I would not do two treatments on her an all natural one and then a store bought one. I would not have to call her three friends moms and tell them the news and apologize profusely.

I would not then just shave off my son's adorable hair to avoid a temper tantrum beyond what this poor mom could handle. He cried like I was doing the worse thing to him the world while shaving his head. I would not think he still looks adorable with the big brown eyes....I would never be that drastic Not Me!

I would not cut off 10 inches off of this girl's head to avoid torturous screaming and crying as I picked through her hair....No, not this mama! I would not kind of make a mistake when I cut her hair and cut it way to short. I would not panic. I would not pretend to be a hairdresser and fix it. I would not sorta succeed because I would be far too embarrassed to take her to a real hair dresser and say could you fix this. I would then not have someone at church compliment my haircutting skills and say they would come to me for a hair cut hahahahahaha that would never happen. And of course my daughter would not like her new do... no way, not her!

My dear sweet hubby did not buy me beautiful red roses to help me feel a better during all this. He is not that sweet...not my hubby!

I would not be still scratching my head like crazy...Nope Not Me!

Argh...Lice...does not give me joy. But me killing lice totally helps me....

GET JOY!
